SNS GIS Abstract The Tourism-based Country Promotion Basic Act was enacted in Japan over a decade ago. Tourism is expected to be the primary contributing factor toward the economic activation of Japan to combat with a low birthrate and an aging society ; consequently, various tourism promotion activities are performed across Japan. Eased visa regulations and expansion of the tax exemption system attracted more than 19 million foreign tourists to Japan in 2015. As a result, one year earlier, Japan achieved the policy objective of extending foreign visitors to 18 million by 2016. It is expected that the development of the tourism industry will increase in the future. Therefore, this paper focuses on the need to include the location information of visitors to Japan while they post data on the social networking services. This study reports the spatial analysis results of these data using a geographical information system.
