This study was conducted to provide more in-depth information on the differences in the way university and technical school students think about their future careers in the same field. The burden of judo-therapist training has been placed on the shoulders of technical schools for many years. However, new judo-therapist training schools have been established and in operation since 2002, including the Nippon Sport Science University, placing the number of specialty schools at 14. Bearing this in mind, a study to determine the discrepancies in the future prospects of university and technical school students in judo-therapist development courses was initiated. The results of the study revealed that, when compared with technical school students, the number of university students who intended to open up judo-therapy clinics in the future was low, while the number looking to become a trainer was quite high. University students interest in acquiring a judo-therapy license turned out to be low in comparison to that of technical school students. University students weren t particularly concerned with work in judo-therapy clinics, and instead opted for work in general business. This study shows that there is indeed a discrepancy in the prospect of licensing between university students and technical school students.
