Implementation and Examination of a PBL style Education Program Involving the Production of Traffic Safety Commercials Yuri IKEMOTO, Naomi SUZUKI and Kohji YAMAMOTO ABSTRACT By incorporating project based learning PBL that uses image content for problem solving into the curriculum, the authors conducted practical university education classes in collaboration with the community to develop the basic skills required for members of society. Previously, five projects with differing themes were simultaneously developed, which produced significant results in terms of nurturing students competency. However, problems in terms of maintaining students motivation and reducing the teaching workload for staff prevailed. This time, by improving the method of proceeding with the project, which had the theme of traffic safety commercials in cooperation with the Tokushima Prefectural Police Headquarters, we were able to realize educational effects that create strong motivation and high evaluations and reduce the workload of teaching staff. This study reveals the implementation method and results, and discusses the effects of PBL styleeducation programs.
