16 Giovanni Battista Bovicelli s Regole, Passaggi di Musica, Madrigali e Motetti Passeggiati A Commentary KURISU, Yumiko and MATSUDA, Satoshi Abstract In this paper, we examined how the five main concepts of singing method in the early baroque period, i.e. passaggio, accento, groppetto, tremolo and tirata, are treated in G. B. Bovicelli s Regole, passaggi di musica, madrigali e motetti passeggiati. We tried to make clear the particular features of this work by comparison with the contemporary theoretical literature on singing by G. Caccini and M. Praetorius. Key words G. B. Bovicelli, G.
