303 Human Factors in Nuclear Power Plant with Focus on Application of Man-machine Interface and Advanced Data Processing Technologies to Nuclear Power Industry Abstract We discuss issues involved in a collaboration that has been promoted between university-based researchers who work on human factors and experienced engineers engaging in nuclear power generation in the Institute of Nuclear Technology of the Institute of Nuclear Safety System, Inc., aiming at the productive interaction of both. Issues discussed include: (1) measures taken at the time of an accident in nuclear power plants; (2) system for supporting repair and maintenance; (3) safety function of nuclear power plants; (4) design of man-machine interface by user participation; (5) application of so-called naturalistic decision-making on site; and (6) discovery of rules from observed data. Diversified research is under way. 1
