Core Ethics Vol. The change of the labor market for new university graduates and personality desired by employers especially in s Japan HASHIGUCHI Shoji Abstract: The purpose of this essay is to analyze the change of personality desired by employers especially in s. It has been said that employers put much faith in personality as a main standard in recruiting new university graduates. Today, the changes in the transition process from school to work in Japan draw attention among researchers. The changes have happened also in the labor market for new university graduates, and those changes are not only quantitative but qualitative. In fact, personality desired by employers has been changed. This change influences the concept and the ways of career guidance by universities. But the tendency has not been changed that employers think personality is more important than expert knowledge or language skills. The analysis of the personality desired by employers shows what has and has not been changed in the labor market for new university graduates and in the transition process from school to work during s Japan.
