: 337 Research on the Naval Warfare Strategy of Genshun Koishi and Associated Issues Kazukuni KAMEDA Kyushu International University, Junior and Senior High School When Genshun KOISHI visited the Chugoku and Kyushu regions, he studied naval warfare methods at Mitajiri. This paper reports the following 5 findings, analyzing the old materials in Bocho. 1) The naval warfare methods that Genshun learned were those of the Noshima School of naval warfare strategy, as newly modified by KITAGAWA. 2) Kido KUBO really existed in Shimonoseki as a wealthy merchant of the Yamagataya family. 3) Kido s second son was Bunpaku KATORI, who was a doctor in the Chofu Domain. Bunpaku learned from Kien MINAGAWA at the same time with Genshun. 4) Genshun s motivations for learning naval warfare strategy were the following two: the first was that he had been interested in military study, and the second, which was the more important, was that he knew that many of the learned among the Hagi Domain were originally from the navy government officials. 5) Genshun s visiting to Bocho was a good opportunity for himself. Additionally, it made a great progress in the medical circles of Shimonoseki and Hofu.
