313 The Relationship between Intellectual Functions and Social Life Disabilities on Schizophrenic Long-term Inpatients Yuki OKAMOTO andkeiko INOUE (AcceptedNov. 16, 2006) Key words : schizophrenic long term inpatient, Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale Revised Rehabilitation Evaluation of Hall andbaker Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of the intellectual functions, andthe relationship between the intellectual functions andthe social life disabilities in schizophrenic long-term inpatients. Thirty-six schizophrenic long-term inpatients participated in this study. The intellectual functions were evaluatedusing the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale - Revised. The social life disabilities were evaluated using the Rehabilitation Evaluation of Hall and Baker. Results showed that the intellectual functions were kept considerably well, though the social life disabilities were severe. There was a significant correlation between the intellectual functions andthe social life disabilities. In addition, when we comparedthe patients who participatedin group occupational therapy with the patients who did not participate, the intellectual functions andthe social life abilities of the former were better than the latter. When we comparedthe patients of the closedwardwith the patients of the open ward, the social life disabilities of the former were more severe than the latter, though there was no difference in the intellectual functions.
