27 Tim Andrews is one of the foremost makers in his field in Britain today. He trained at Dartington and with the eminent potter David Leach O.B.E. in the 1970s - afterwards setting up his own studio in David Leach always considered Tim to be one of his best ever students and invited him to return to work with him at Lowerdown Pottery in Devon as a partner between 1986 and He is an elected fellow of the Craft Potters Association and Honorary President of the Westcountry Potters Association. His most recent book Raku was published by A and C Black; he also writes reviews for Ceramics; Art and Perception magazine. He is best known for his black and white burnished forms, his red and green glazed vessels and for the delicate porcelain bowls combined with dark stoneware towers. There have been frequent exhibitions of his work in Japan, Australia, the United States, throughout Europe and the United Kingdom over the last thirty five years. Works have been acquired by many museums including Kanazawa Museum, The Ashmolean Oxford, Liverpool Museum, The Fitzwilliam Cambridge, Arizona State Museum, The Zhou Museum in China and Stoke on Trent Museum. Private collectors include Donna Karren, The Royal Bank of Scotland, St Johns College Oxford, Imerys, Eric Clapton and Lord Irvine of Lairg. Twice each year, in the South West of England, Tim Andrews exhibits work by leading contemporary potters and sculptors within his studio, gallery and outside in his beautifully landscaped English garden. After more than thirty five years of making pots Tim Andrews is considered to be one of Britain's leading potters. Andy Christian - Writer, Curator and Advisor to the Arts
