This report describes a 26 - year - old man who came to our hospital because of complication with lower abdominal pain and bloody stool. Blood cell counts and chemistry analysis indicated mild inflammation. Colonoscopic findings showed mucosal edema and shallow linear ulcerations from the sigmoid to the transverse colon ; histological findings from biopsy specimens revealed a loss of epithelium, giving a so - called ghost - like appearance. 2 treated and improved without hospitalization. Although constipation and oral contraceptive use are related to IC pathogenesis in young adults, this patient had neither. In healthy young adults with complication by abdominal pain and bloody stool, IC should be considered.
