2 w The Department of Japanese Language at Japan Wellness Sports College About Japan Wellness Sports College Taiken Academies, which run sports colleges in Tokyo, Hiroshima, Niigata, and Kitakyushu, a pet school in Tokyo, and a medical school in Tokyo, is a comprehensive academy. After co mpleting the course at the Department of Japanese Language (DJL) at Hiroshima Campus of Japan Wellness Sports College (JWSC), students will be able to acquire Japanese language skills to go on to a college/ university in Japan, and they preferentially can go to a 2-year curriculum of the school and its sister schools. Characteristics of Hiroshima Campus of Japan Wellness Sports College 1 Enhanced Lessons The aims of the DJL are to equip students with 4 skills of Japanese, Kaku (Write), Hanasu (Speak), Kiku (Listen), and Yomu (Read), and develop their communication skills in practical Japanese, which native speakers of Japanese use. The DJL uses various textbooks, based on students educational background and current language skills in Japanese. In addition, the department uses other materials such as animations, movies, etc. so that students can learn the language spontaneously and enjoyably. 2 Support System for the Students who Head for Higher EducationInstitutions The DJL offers advanced and elective classes for the students, who want to go to higher education institutions, and gives them academic counseling and the opportunities to take trial lessons of JWSC. In addition, the DJL has the system of recommendation for designated universities and colleges, including JWSC. As a result, the department has a high advancement rate. 3 Various Cultural Exchange Activities The DJL offers students various cultural exchange activities such as the sports festival with the Japanese students of JWSC, cooking Japanese cuisine, field trips, etc.

3 4 Optimal Environment The Hiroshima Campus of JWSC, located in the eastern Hiroshima City, has an ideal location. The campus is in a quiet and calm atmosphere and endowed with nature although the campus is a 2-minute walk from Aki Nakano Station of Sanyo Main Line. 5 Special Rates for Students Students can buy student commuter passes to go to school because JWSC is a college, accredited under the School Education Act. In addition, students can receive various student discounts in movie tickets, travel, etc. 6 Scholarships Students can apply for the Honors Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students by the Japan Student Service Organization, Kyoritsu International Foundation Scholarship, Kyoritsu Maintenance Scholarship, etc. 7 Visa Application Service The staff members of JWSC have the qualification to apply for a visa. As necessary, they can go to an immigration office to apply for a visa on behalf of students.

Applicants who are 18 years old or older 3. Applicants who have passed the Level N5 in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) (Level 4 in the former JLPT) or achieved the same level of Japanese language skills 4. Applicants who have sufficient financial resources to successfully complete their studies For details, please read the application form. Course Curriculum 1-year Prep Course (Morning class: 40 students / Afternoon class: 40 students) Students start learning intermediate level of Japanese, which is equivalent to N3 Level of JLPT. They will improve their language skills step-by-step and head for Japanese graduate schools, universities, ities, and colleges. Term Levels JLPT Apr. Jun. Intermediate I Jul. Sept. Advanced II 1 and half-year Prep Course (Morning class: 20 students) Students will start learning elementary level of Japanese, which is equivalent to N4 Level of JLPT, as preparation for intermediate level. 6 w The Department of Japanese Language at Japan Wellness Sports College Cultural Exchange Activities Field Trips Cultural Exchange Activities Sports Festival Students will go sightseeing in world-famous Hiroshima city, which is a government ordinance designated city and has the largest population in Chugoku and Shikoku regions. Students will have the opportunities to cook Japanese cuisine, play Japanese traditional games, etc. with the Japanese students of JWSC. Students will deepen exchanges with the Japanese students through experiencing Japanese culture with those activities. Students will have a sports festival with the Japanese students of JWSC. Students will be able to feel refreshed in body and spirit through the festival. School Events In parallel with academic schedule, JWSC offers field trips to experience Japanese culture and tradition, and cultural exchange activities and a sports festival to deepen exchanges with the Japanese students. 7 Part-time Job Many international students are working in Japan. Students at JWSC also can work part-time with the school and the Immigration Bureau s permissions.
