1 Nikkei national museum & cultural centre PROGRAMS + SPECIAL EVENTS January to April

2 MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR for the third straight year. As we embark on the New Year, it is hard to believe that 2015 is now in our rear view mirror. In the past year, we ve introduced new classes, strengthened our Membership discount program, and hosted a number of exciting events, including the 2015 Nikkei Matsuri Festival, which drew record crowds But the exciting news does not stop there: those who have recently visited may have noticed construction in progress. In 2016, we will be opening our new Multi-Purpose Room on the first floor, which will have the primary function of hosting our many martial arts programs. This was made possible by a generous capital improvement donation and we are all excited for its grand opening. Our patrons will surely enjoy this new space for years to come. Be sure to also visit our current museum exhibit Revitalizing Japantown? A Right To Remain Exhibit, which presents a thought-provoking multi-layered examination of the history and social justice issues affecting Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. Finally, as we look to the community for continued support, we encourage everyone to become a member of Nikkei Centre to ensure that we continue to be a leader in the cultural landscape of Greater Vancouver.
