4 Lesson 2 Grammar notes 4Negative form of adjectives The negative form of an i-adjective is stem + ku-naidesu. atarashii plain affirmative form atarashi- stem atarashi-ku-nai atarashikunai desu plain negative form polite negative form The stem is the main part of a word to which various endings may be added. The stem of an i-adjective is formed by deleting the final 'i.'
