19 2018 Mongolian Language Education in Modern Japan Between the Intellectual Control and the Military Invasion Chogbileg Abstract This thesis discuss Mongolian language education in modern of Japan. In 1908, Oriental Language Institute was established since Mongolian language education was adopted as an educational subject in Japan. At that time, the conflict of interests in Inner Mongolia was between Japan and Russia. And it became intense, and the two countries were trying to invade Inner Mongolia. Military investigation by the Japanese immediately conducted in the eastern part of Inner Mongolia after the Russo-Japanese War, and it involved in Mongolian education as well. At the same time, research of Oriental history in Japan on inner Mongolia began and Mongolian research expand as one research field. Mongolian studies by Oriental History and the invasion of the Japanese Army inner Mongolia were the main reasons for Mongolian language education. It introduced in Japan. Mongolian language education in modern Japan was treated as intellectual control by Oriental history and as a tool of the military policy of the Japanese Army. 22
