Psycho-social problems of woman clients treated with assisted reproductive technology A narrative study of difficulties in receiving IVF MIYATA Hisae : This paper analyses the narrative of psycho-social problems of woman clients who were treated with assisted reproductive technology. Three difficulties were assessed by the first paper: the social norms regarding childbirth, the treatment fee, and the technical characteristics of assisted reproductive technology. Two new difficulties have been added to the analysis in the current paper. Narratives of woman clients receiving IVF show five difficulties: strong social norms regarding childbirth, preparations for expensive treatment fees management of strong desire for achieving pregnancy, cooperation with husbands for the treatment, and decision-making regarding continuing IVF. : infertility treatment, Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), In Vitro Fertilization- Embryo Transfer (IVF), women clients, narrative Graduate Student, Graduate School of Sociology, Ritsumeikan University
