In particular, irradiation properties of IPs were examined ; and consequently, the results of this investigation are presented in this report. The results of the experiments afforded the following conclusions :. The input-output characteristics of the IP-based digital system exhibited the same logarithmic response as that of the screen film system.. The input-output characteristics of the IP-based digital system indicated sensitivity that was two-fold greater than that obtained with the combination of the SRO-75 with the SR-G film, which demonstrated the highest sensitivity in the screen film system.. The gamma of the input-output characteristics was. and. for the screen and the IP-based systems, respectively. 4. The identical irradiation in the screen system was confirmed to be identical to that in the IP-based digital system. The irradiation width increased as the irradiation dose was increased.

2 CR 5 5. It was evident that the occurrence of irradiation was caused mainly by the film printing and the dry development processes. Furthermore, the phenomenon of irradiation impacted the resolving power. 6. Upon measurement of resolving power, the highest resolving power for the IP-based digital system was 4 cycles/mm. When the impact from irradiation was included, the resolving power decreased to cycles/mm. 7. Assessment of the various images subjected to differing irradiation doses by the naked eye revealed no differences in resolving power. 8. Marked irradiation occurred at levels exceeding GL ; thus, it is necessary to establish irradiation conditions such that the image contrast within the subject is suppressed to levels below GL.
