Abstract Fruit flies are important pests of fruit and vegetables in south-east Asia and the Pacific. Among them, Bactrocera carambolae and B. papayae (Diptera: Tephritidae), which belong to the Bactrocera dorsalis species complex, are regarded as particularly important because of their wide host ranges and the serious economic damage they cause. Although there has been research into effective control measures for both species, their host utilization in the field has not been examined quantitatively in their native distribution ranges, largely because of difficulties in their precise identification. Here, we document their host utilization based on observations of infestations of their major host fruits (guava, mango, rose apple and starfruit) collected in the field between November 2011 and February 2015, in west Java, Indonesia, the home distribution areas of these fruit flies. We collected and counted the number of pupae that naturally emerged from each fruit and reared them to adults in separate groups. Then we randomly chose up to 10 adults per fruit (30 adults per fruit after September 2014), and identified them to species based on criteria proposed by Kago et al. (2012), from which we estimated the total number of pupae infesting each fruit. These data indicated that B. carambolae mainly infested starfruit, while B. papayae primarily infested mangoes. This differential host utilization is discussed in relation to: (1) egg-laying efficacy mediated by a species-specific difference in the lengths of hard part of the ovipositor (aculeus) and differences in the hardness/thickness of the fruit skins; and (2) putative negative sexual interaction (reproductive interference) between B. carambolae and B. papayae. Keywords:Bactrocera dorsalis complex, host utilization, interspecific interaction, resource partitioning ミバエ類は東南アジアや太平洋地域において, 果樹および果菜類の主要害虫である. ミカンコミバエ種群 Bactrocera dorsalis complex( 双翅目, ミバエ科 ) に属する B. carambolae と B. papayae は潜在的には非常に多くの植物を寄主として利用することができ, 特に重要な種である. しかしながら, 原産地における両種の寄主利用は明らかになっていない. 本研究では, ミバエ類の原産地と考えられるインドネシアジャワ島において, 主要な寄主と考えられる 4 種の果実 ( グァバ, マンゴー, ローズアップ Corresponding author:nobu16nobu90@yahoo.co.jp

2 原産地におけるミバエ 2 種の寄主利用の比較ル, スターフルーツ ) を野外で採集し, 両種の寄主利用の解明を試みた. 採集した果実からミバエ幼虫を取り出して飼育し, 成虫を同定した結果,B. carambolae はスターフルーツを,B. papayae はマンゴーを主に利用していることが分かった. 種間で寄主利用が異なる理由として,(1) 産卵管の長さと果皮の厚さの関係および (2) ミバエ種間の繁殖干渉が考えられた. 諸言検疫害虫とは, 未発生の国や地域に侵入した場合に, その地の農作物や生態系に多大な影響を与える恐れのある害虫である. そのため検疫害虫が確認された地域からはその害虫が利用する植物の輸出が制限され, 経済的な被害が生じる (Drew and Roming, 1997). ミバエ類は検疫害虫の典型であり, 東南アジアや太平洋地域において, 果樹および果菜類の重要害虫とされている (Drew and Roming, 1997). ミバエ類の中でも特にミカンコミバエ種群 (Bactrocera dorsalis complex) は, 広食性で農作物に大規模な被害を与える恐れのある種が多数含まれる姉妹種群である (Drew and Hancock, 1994; Clarke et al., 2005). これらの種はこれまで, 日本, ハワイ, オーストラリア, 南米のスリナムなどに侵入して大きな被害をもたらしてきた ( 石井ほか,1985; van Zwaluwenberg, 1947; Drew, 1997; van Sauers-Muller, 1991). そしてその防除のために, 侵入先において多くの研究がなされ多くの知見が蓄積してきた ( 小山,1994; 伊藤,2008; Armstrong and Jang, 1997; Fay et al., 1997; van Sauers-Muller, 2005). しかし, ミカンコミバエ種群の主要な原産地である熱帯東南アジアでは, 生態や生活史の解明がほとんど進んでいないのが現状である. ミカンコミバエ種群に対する有効な防除策を構築するためには, 原産地における生態や生活史の解明が必要である. ミカンコミバエ種群の中でも Bactrocera carambolae Drew and Hancock, 1994 と Bactrocera papayae Drew and Hancock, 1994 は特に広食性であり,B. carambolae は27 科 77 種,B. papayae は 51 科 209 種の植物を食害することが報告されている (Allwood et al., 1999). しかし, 寄主植物種の範囲が広いことは, いずれの寄主植物種も同様に利用することを意味しない.Bactrocera carambolae が侵入した南米のスリナムにおいて,77 種の寄主植物を野外で採集し食害の有無を調べた研究によれば,B. carambolae の食害率はスターフルーツ (Averrhoa carambola L.) で特に高かった (van Sauers-Muller, 1991). また, 旅行者によってアジア諸国から日本に持ち込まれ, 植物防疫法に基づいて成田空港の検疫所で没収された様々な種類の果実を調べた研究では,B. papayae はトウガラシ属の一種とマンゴー (Mangifera indica L.) を B. carambolae よりも多く加害し, 逆に B. carambolae はスターフルーツを B. papayae よりも多く加害していた (Iwaizumi, 2004). 他にも, タイとマレーシアにおいて果実を採集しミバエ類の寄主利用を調べた研究では, 両種が主に利用しているのは 5 種程度であり, その利用植物は種間で異なる傾向があった (Clarke et al., 2001). このように, 多種の植物を食害すると言われている B. carambolae と B. papayae であるが, 主要な寄主植物は限られており, かつ寄主利用には種特異性がある可能性が高い. インドネシア群島はミカンコミバエ種群の多様性が最も高く, 種分化の中心地だと考えられる (Clarke et al., 2005). インドネシアには B. carambolae と B. papayae が同所的に生息しており (Drew and Hancock, 1994), 両種は商業的に価値の高いグァバ (Psidium guajava L.), マンゴー, ローズアップル (Syzygium jambos (L.) Alston), そしてスターフルーツを加害している. この 2 種の外部形態は酷似している (Drew and Hancock, 1994) ため, これまで識別が困難で野外における研究は事実上不可能であった. Kago et al. (2012) はジャワ島産のこの 2 種のミバエ成虫を対象として, 腹部と前翅の斑紋のわずかな違いに基づいて両種を識別する方法を確立した. 本研究では, 果実を加害した幼虫を飼育して得た成虫を,Kago et al. (2012) の方法を使って識別し, 両種の野外における寄主利用の解明を試みた. 材料と方法 2011 年 11 月から 2015 年 2 月までの間に, インドネシア西ジャワ州の Karawang 県,Subang 県, そして Purwakarta 県で, グァバ, マンゴー, ローズアップル, そしてスターフルーツの果実を採集した (Fig. 1, Table 1). Subang 県では, インドネシア農業省果樹実験林で採集した. 果樹実験林は, 多様な熱帯果実が植栽されている環境であり, グァバ, ローズアップル, スターフルーツなど 63 種の果樹が植栽されていた. マンゴーは果樹実験林では植栽されていなかったため, 近隣集落で採集した. Subang 県の果樹実験林以外の調査地は集落およびその周辺であり, 果樹は街路樹もしくは庭木として植栽されていた. 採集した果実は実験室に持ち帰り, 各果実重量を測定した年に Subang 県で採集された果実に関しては, さらに品種も記録した. このとき採集された品種はグァバが Getas Merah,Paris Merah,Paris Putih の3 品種, マンゴーが Apple,Chengkir,Gedong,Harum Manis,Mana Lagi の 5 品種, ローズアップルが Apple,Cincalo Hijau, C incalo Merah,Lilin の 4 品種, スターフルーツが Demak Kapur,Dewi,Taiwan の 3 品種であった. 底面直径 11 cm,

Field survey on utilization for varieties was conducted in Subang in 2011 and Fig. 1 Location of the study sites in Indonesia. : sampling point 上面直径 18 cm, 深さ 6.5 cm の白い発泡スチロール製の容器におがくず ( 分で乾熱滅菌したもの ) を敷き, プラスチックシートを敷いてから, その上に採集した果実を置いた.Bactrocera 属の幼虫は 3 齢になると果実から脱出し, 地面に潜って蛹化するので ( 石井ほか, 1985), おがくずを幼虫が蛹化する際に潜るための敷材とした. その上から直径 16.5 cm, 高さ 16.5 cm の蓋を外したプラスチック製の容器 ( 飼育ケース ) を上下逆さまにして被せた. 飼育ケースの底部にはあらかじめ直径約 7 cm の穴を空け, 穴にガーゼを張って通気口を設けた. この状態で, 幼虫が自発的に果実から脱出しおがくずの中で蛹になるまで, 室温 C, 自然日長にて保管した. ミバエ幼虫の飼育はインドネシア西ジャワ州 Karawang 県のインドネシア農業省病害虫予察センター (Balai Besar Peramalan Organisme Pengganggu Tumbuhan (BBPOPT)) 内で 9 月から翌年 4 月に行ったことから, 明期の長さは約 11 時間 53 分 ~12 時間 29 分であった.Bactrocera carambolae と B. papayae に非常に近縁な Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel, 1912) をマンゴーとスターフルーツを含む 8 種の熱帯果実で飼育し, その幼虫発育を調べた研究では,27 30 の条件で卵期間と幼虫期間の合計は 8.9~ 11.5 日であった (Ibrahim and Rahman, 1982). そのため, 果実を採集してから 7 日後,11 日後,15 日後 ( さらに蛹化が期待できる場合は 19 日後 ) の計 3 回 ( または計 4 回 ), 果実の下に敷いているおがくずに篩いをかけ, 蛹を取り出し計数した. 蛹は果実ごとに分け, 飼育ケースに入れて飼育した. 羽化した成虫には砂糖と酵母エキス ( アサヒフードアン

carambolae と B. papayae の蛹化数を推定した. この推定方法では, 羽化しなかった個体や羽化後同定前に死亡した個体を B. carambolae と B. papayae のいずれかに振り分けているため, その2 種以外のBactrocera 属による寄生数を過小評価する可能性がある. しかしながら, 実際に果実から得られた B. carambolae と B. papayae 以外の Bactrocera 属の割合は全体の約 6 % と低く, 同定できなかった蛹の中に, 両種以外の個体が含まれる可能性は低いと考えられた.

(2012) に基づいて同定した. 各果実について一部の個体を対象として実施した同定の結果を用い, その果実に寄生していた B. carambolae の推定蛹化数 (N c ) と B. papayae の推定蛹化数 (N p ) を以下の式により求めた. c o c p o p ここで,N o は B. carambolae と B. papayae 以外の Bactrocera 属の羽化個体数を,N はその果実から見つかった総蛹数を示し,I は同定対象となった個体数を,I c と I p は同定対象となった個体のうち, それぞれ B. carambolae および B. papayae と判定された個体の数を示す. 羽化した成虫の数は記録していないため, 羽化成虫のうち同定した個体の比率から,B. carambolae と B. papayae の蛹化数を推定した. この推定方法では, 羽化しなかった個体や羽化後同定前に死亡した個体を B. carambolae と B. papayae のいずれかに振り分けているため, その2 種以外のBactrocera 属による寄生数を過小評価する可能性がある. しかしながら, 実際に果実から得られた B. carambolae と B. papayae 以外の Bactrocera 属の割合は全体の約 6 % と低く, 同定できなかった蛹の中に, 両種以外の個体が含まれる可能性は低いと考えられた. そのため, 両種以外の寄生を過小評価するこ Fig. 2 Frequency distribution of the number of fruits infested by a given number pupae of Bactrocera carambolae (upper) and B. papayae (lower) per fruit when all the four fruit species and all the study sites were combined. とによる影響はごくわずかであると見なした. 初めに, 各果実の品種間における各ミバエ種の推定蛹化数を比較した. 次に各県ごとに, 果実種間における B. carambolae と B. papayae の推定蛹化数, そして両種以外のミバエの羽化数の違いについて比較することで, 各ミバエ種が主に利用している果実を調べた. これらの比較には, ノンパラメトリック法の一つである Steel-Dwass 検定を用いた. グァバとマンゴーのみ採集した Purwakarta 県については,Wilcoxon の順位和検定を用いて 2 種果実間の比較を行った. これらの統計解析には, 統計ソフト R version (R Development Core Team, 2014) を用いた. 結果調査の結果,4 種の果実全てについて,B. carambolae と B. papayae による食害が確認され,Karawang 県では両種のほかに Bactrocera albistrigata (de Meijere, 1911) による食害も確認された.Bactrocera 属 1 種以上の食害が確認されたのは, グァバでは 135 果実中 80 個 (59.3 %), マンゴーでは 247 果実中 113 個 (45.7 %), ローズアップルでは 151 果実中 104 個 (68.9 %), スターフルーツでは 291 果実中 244 個 (83.8 %) であった. 一方, ミバエ種ごとの各

5 藤井暢之ら果実に対する寄生個体数 (Fig.2) は, 寄生されていない果実が半分以上を占めており, 果実あたり寄生個体数を中央値で示すと 0 となる調査地果実が多くなったため, 代表値として中央値は適切でないと考えられた. そのため, 以後ミバエ種ごとに寄生に関して記述する場合は, 便宜上平均値を示した年に Subang 県で採集された 4 種の果実のいずれにおいても,B. carambolae と B. papayae の推定蛹化数は品種間で違いはなかった (Table 2) ( Steel-Dwass 検定, p>0.05). つまり, 品種の違いはミバエ類の食害に影響を与えていなかったため, 以後は品種を考慮せず種ごとにまとめて解析した. Karawang 県で採集された果実 1 個当たりの B. carambolae と B. papayae の推定蛹化数, そして B. albistrigata の羽化数を Fig. 3 に示す.Bactrocera carambolae はスターフルーツ ( 平均値,16.76) から最も多く, 次いでマンゴー (6.52) とグァバ (4.12), ローズアップル (0.85) からは最も少なかった (Steel-Dwass 検定, p<0.01). 一方,B. papayae は, マンゴー (34.36), スターフルーツ (2.62), グァバ (2.55) の順に多く, ローズアップル (0.05) からは最も少なかった (Steel-Dwass 検定, p<0.05).bactrocera albistrigata はマンゴー以外から羽化し, ローズアップル (8.19), グァバ (1.75), スターフルーツ (0.10) の順に多かった (Steel-Dwass 検定, p<0.05). Subang 県で採集された果実 1 個当たりの B. carambolae と B. papayae の推定蛹化数を Fig. 4 に示す.Bactrocera carambolae はスターフルーツ (38.99) から最も多く, 次いでローズアップル (7.19) とグァバ (6.43), マンゴー (0.15) からは最も少なかった (Steel-Dwass 検定, p<0.01).bactrocera papayae はグァバ (5.09) から最も多く, マンゴー (12.42), ローズアップル (0.79), スターフルーツ (0.25) 間で差はなかった (Steel-Dwass 検定, p<0.01) が, マンゴーからは蛹化が見られた場合にはその数は多かった. Purwakarta 県で採集された果実 1 個当たりの B. carambolae と B. papayae の推定蛹化数を Fig. 5 に示す. Bactrocera carambolae はグァバ (9.44) に比べてスターフルーツ (13.69) から多く蛹化したが, 両者に有意差はなかった (Wilcoxon の順位和検定, p>0.05).bactrocera papayae はグァバ (5.09) からのみ蛹化し, スターフルーツからは確認できなかった. 考察本研究の結果, 西ジャワ州の 3 県,Karawang 県,Subang 県,Purwakarta 県において,B. carambolae と B. papayae の間で寄主利用はかなり異なっていた.Bactrocera carambolae は各県ともにスターフルーツを主に利用しており,B. papayae は Karawang 県ではマンゴーを,Subang 県ではグァバを主に利用しており,Purwakarta 県ではスターフルーツに比べてグァバを利用していた. 本研究の結果は, 過去に日本 (Iwaizumi, 2004) やスリナム (van Sauers-Muller, 1991) で行われた研究で示されていた B. carambolae と B. papayae の寄主利用の傾向と概ね一致した. 一方,B. albistrigata はローズアップルを主に利用していた. 今回調査対象にした果実の原産地は, グァバが熱帯中央アメリカ, マンゴーがミャンマーとインドの国境地帯, ローズアップルが熱帯アジア, スターフルーツが詳細は不明 Table 2 Mean estimated number of Bactrocera carambolae pupae and B. papayae pupae emerged per fruit of each variety collected in Subang in 2011 and 2012 Fruit Guava Mango Rose apple Starfruit Variety Number of fruits Estimated number of pupae (mean) examined B. carambolae B. papayae Getas Merah Paris Merah Paris Putih Apple Chengkir Gedong Harum Manis Mana Lagi Apple Cincalo Hijau Cincalo Merah Lilin Demak Kapur Dewi Taiwan

05) ながらもマレー半島, インド, モルッカ諸島, ジャワ島等諸説ある ( 杉浦ほか, 2008).2 種のミバエの原産地はインドネシア群島であると考えられ (Clarke et al., 2005), ローズアップルとスターフルーツについては概ね原産地が一致する. その一方で, グァバやマンゴーなど原産地が一致しない植物も利用することからも, 両種の寄主範囲の広さが分かる.

Different letters indicate significant differences among the fruits (Steel-Dwass tests, p<0.05) ながらもマレー半島, インド, モルッカ諸島, ジャワ島等諸説ある ( 杉浦ほか, 2008).2 種のミバエの原産地はインドネシア群島であると考えられ (Clarke et al., 2005), ローズアップルとスターフルーツについては概ね原産地が一致する. その一方で, グァバやマンゴーなど原産地が一致しない植物も利用することからも, 両種の寄主範囲の広さが分かる. 野外で採集した果実からのミバエの蛹化数が種間で異なっていた原因は, 寄主選好性の種間差により母メスの産卵数が異なっていた可能性や, 産卵数に違いがなくても幼虫の発育パフォーマンス ( 生存率や発育期間成熟サイズなどをまとめたもの ) の違い, あるいは捕食や捕食寄生といった野外でのみ生じる幼虫期の死亡要因によって生じたかもしれない. あるいはその全てである可能性も否定できない. ミバエ種によって, 各果実における発育パフォーマンスが異なるか, また天敵による幼虫期の死亡率が寄主果実によって異なるかどうかについては, 現在調査中である. 寄主果実によって母メスの産卵数が異なる可能性については, 現在 2 つの仮説,(1) 種間の産卵能力の違いおよび (2) ミバエ種間の相互作用を考慮している. 以下にこれらの仮説について考察する. 両種の産卵能力に関わる指標として, 産卵管の長さが挙げられる.Bactrocera carambolae は B. papayae と比較して, 産卵管の硬化部が短いことが報告されている (Drew and Hancock, 1994; Ebina and Ohto, 2006). そのため, 産卵管の短い B. carambolae は果皮の厚い果実に産卵することが難しく,B. papayae と比較して寄主として利用できる果実が限られる可能性がある. また, 種間で寄主利用の違いを生み出す可能性のある別

Different letters indicate significant differences among the fruits (Wilcoxon rank sum test, p<0.05) の要因として, 繁殖干渉 (reproductive interference) が挙げられる. 繁殖干渉とは, 近縁異種のオスが配偶の過程でメスの適応度を低下させるような負の相互作用のことである (Gröning and Hochkirch, 2008; 本間ほか, 2012). これまでの研究で, 繁殖干渉が実験条件下で強い排除効果をもつこと (Kishi et al., 2009) や, 野外で肉食性テントウムシの寄主範囲を決めること (Noriyuki et al., 2012) が知られている.Bactrocera 属では過去に, 侵入した種が元いた種を排除した例が数多く報告されており (Duyck et al., 2004), ミバエ種間で繁殖干渉が起こっている可能性は高い. 繁殖干渉の強さには正の頻度依存性がある. つまり個体数が多いほうが一方的に有利となるという特徴がある. もし 2 種間に繁殖干渉が生じているのであれば, 各果実への産卵は単に各種の産卵能力だけでなく, 繁殖時の 2 種の個体数割合や繁殖干渉における優劣など,2 種間の相互作引用文献 Allwood A.
