GRAMMAR REVIEW: Topic: Verb Tenses Part 2 (Basic Present) (5-6 minutes) ( 動詞の時制パート 2- 単純現在形 ) The Basic Present tense expresses an unchanging, repeated, or recurring action (e.g. John drives a taxi.) or situation that exists only now (e.g. Sara is happy.). It can also represent a widespread truth (e.g. The sun sets in the west.). The basic present tense is achieved when the main verb or be-verb is added directly after the subject: 単純現在形はジョンはタクシーを運転しますのような変わらずに繰り返される動作やサラは幸せですのような今だけ起こっている状態を表します単純現在形はまた太陽は西に沈みますのように普遍の事実も表します単純現在形は主語の直後に本動詞または be 動詞が置いて作ります Subject + predicate (includes main verb/be-verb). 主語 + 述部 ( 本動詞または be 動詞を含む ) We also add -s to the main verb if the subject is 3 rd person singular (he, she, and it). 主語が三人称単数形 (he she it) の場合本動詞の語尾に s をつけます Remember: 注意 An auxiliary verb (do / does) is not used unless the sentence is negative or interrogative.
