To find out factors for successful promotion of health support, the authors conducted a study in which some leading community pharmacists were interviewed face-to-face using a method of qualitative research. From the subjects narratives, five categories of factors for the success of health support were extracted: organizational preparation within the pharmacy, understanding of regional needs and advertising its activities, growth of health support pharmacists, methods of health support activities and creating health support environment for the community. In particular, growth of health support pharmacists was not deemed to be a success factor in preceding studies. The extraction of this new category of factors indicates that pharmacists perspective, building confidence based on abilities and a mindset change are essential. It also shows the growth of pharmacists is an important factor in providing health support to community residents.
