Japanese Journal of Mindfulness, 2017, Vol. 2, No. 2 Special Issue: Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Practice News pp. 43 49 Learning of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Inquiry and Embodiment of Mindfulness Online first published: January 6, 2018 Published: July 14, 2018 Received: March 30, 2017 Accepted: December 6, 2017 Tetsuji Ietsugu Graduate School of Human Life Sciences, Faculty of Human Life Sciences, Nagoya University of Economics, Meikei Mindfulness Center Abstract Interest in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) has been increasing among professionals in Japan, and various books about it have been translated into Japanese. However, it is difficult to understand how to teach MBCT by just reading books. In the first half of this article, training at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre was shown. Especially, the content of a Six-Day Training Retreat was detailed. In the second half, teachings from Dr. Mark Williams at the Mindfulness Forum 2016 were presented, focusing on the inquiry and embodiment of mindfulness. Even though the importance of these two points are stressed by the developers of MBCT (Segal, Williams, & Teasdale, 2012), it may be difficult to understand for those who have never had the opportunity for observation. The majority of participants at the Forum could directly observe and learn from Dr. Mark Williams.
