No.5, 185-196 (2004) Conformity to the next-generation currency seen from a Electronic money classification : OSHIMA Kazuchika Nihon University, Graduate School of Social and Cultural Studies Internet developed by the revolution of information technology in the second half of 20 th century brought about expansion of the e-commerce market for consumers. For making this market continuously expand, safe and efficient payment system on network is indispensable, and " Electronic money, a next-generation currency, is a key. Electronic money was realized by invention of RSA cryptograph and IC card technology. In the world, various experiments of Electronic money were done by these technologies in the end of the 20 th century. Also in Japan, the experiments of "VISA cash" and "Super Cash," the world largest classes, were conducted. In spite of it, neither classification nor definition of Electronic money yet becomes settled. In this report, classification of Electronic money is clarified first.
