Initially Mitsui DEUTZ Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. and Mitsui Zosen EIMCO, Inc. merged in 1999, and later Takatori Manufacturing Co., Ltd. joined them in 2001. Mitsui DEUTZ Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. was established in 1963 as a Japanese-German joint enterprise in Tokyo for the manufacture of diesel engines for use in construction machinery, industrial machinery and marine applications. In 1995, utilizing its advanced skills and sales network, MZM shifted the main thrust of its business operations from the manufacture of diesel engines to the sale of diesel engines imported from DEUTZ AG and the production of complete packages using these engines combined with related equipment for power generation and pump drive applications.
