Who refers to people. It is used as a subject in a dependent clause. Example 1: I admire a person who knows how to relax. Dependent Clause To confirm if it (who) is the subject in a dependent clause, you can try turning the clause into a question and check if you can answer it with a subject noun or pronoun. Example 1: I admire a person who knows how to relax. Question: Who knows how to relax? Answer: She knows how to relax. She is a subject pronoun, therefore who is the subject of the dependent clause. Example 2: I have two sons who are high school students. Question: Who are high school students? Answer: Example 3: A man who wants to see you is waiting outside. Question: Answer: A man Page 3
