GRAMMAR REVIEW: Topic: Verb Form- Present Progressive Tense (5-6 minutes) ( 現在進行形 ) Present Progressive Tense (is, am, are + verb-ing) is usually used when the action is happening at the same moment the speaker is speaking. Sometimes this tense is also used to indicate long actions that are in progress now and to indicate actions that will happen in the near future. ( 現在進行形 (is, am, are + ing 形の動詞 ) は 通常 現在していることを表すときに使用さ れますが 何かを達成する途中であることや 近い未来のことを表すときにも使用され ます ) Examples ( 例 ): Actions that are happening now: ( 現在起こっていること ) 1. The dog is eating my ice cream. Actions that will happen in the near future: ( 近い未来のこと ) 1. We are going to the Izakaya after work. ( 私たちは 仕事の後に居酒屋に行く ) 2. He is giving a speech this afternoon. ( 彼は今日の午後に演説をする ) 3. I am buying a new car this weekend. ( 私は今週末に新しい車を買う ) Remember : ( 例 ) Present Progressive Tense can be used either for present action or near future action. To make things clearer, you can add adverbs of time like tomorrow, now, right now, or next week.
