3 REPORTS 生研記者会見報告 1 月 17 日臨時記者会見最先端実用的シミュレーションソフトウェアの最終版が完成国産ソフトの産業界への普及が本格化革新的シミュレーション研究センター長加藤千幸教授発表１月17 日セミナー室において革新的シミュレーション研究センター長の加藤千幸教授らは文部科学省次世代 IT 基盤構築のための研究開発革新的シミュレーションソフトウェアの研究開発プロジェクト成果を発表する記者会見を開催した平成17 年度から３年間にわたって推進された上記プロジェクトでは欧米製ソフトに席巻されている我が国の状況に対して特に大規模な並列処理機能の研究開発とソフトウェアへの実装によりそれらとの差別化に成功し今後益々重要性の増す複雑製品の丸ごと大規模高精度解析を可能にするこれらのソフトウェアは産業界等から大きな支持を得て公開されたフリーソフトウェアのダウンロード数も昨年12 月時点ですでに４万４千件を越えるに至っている本プロジェクトにおいて開発されたソフトウェアはライフサイエンスナノテクノロジーものづくり都市安全の主要４分野を網羅するもので今後の我が国の科学技術の発展を支える基盤ソフトウェアとしての期待が高まっている記者会見ではソフトウェアの全貌紹介とともに医薬品メーカー自動車メーカー JAXAより適用事例の説明が行われこれらのソフトウェアが実用ソフトウェアとして極めて有用であることが実例を通して紹介された会見の内容は日刊工業新聞科学新聞化学工業日報などに詳しく掲載されたまた日経ものづくり３月号に特報記事として具体的な実例を中心とした内容が出版される予定である革新的シミュレーション研究センター長加藤千幸 3

16 I N FORMATION PROMENADE Japan My Point of View When I knew that I got Monbugakusho Scholarship, I think my other views will be open soon. It is the most grateful thing and a good opportunity for me to learn a lot of new things which are different from my country, Thailand. Of course, it is my first time to studying aboard too. My first step in Japan, I got a warm welcome from my advisor, my laboratory members and my friends which did not make me feel lonely and home sick at all. I do not have any problem with the difference of culture and life style here because I had been impressive experiences when I visited Japan at the first time. That is one reason why I selected to study my PhD here. As well, Japan-Thai have a close relationship and great support to each others very long time. We just celebrated the 120 th Anniversary Thai-Japan relationship in last year (2007). However one problem that I face is Language. But it is not a big problem at all. At least; I can communicate for the basic daily conversation because the environment forces me to overcome this problem. I will be more enjoying when I know more Japanese language. Why is Japan? As you know, Japan, of course, is huge source of technology, knowledge and professional persons. Moreover, Japan always provides and transfers these matters to other countries. The data, equipment, technology and etc. are ready for you to study whatever you want. My research topic is not widely done in my country, but it is so widely in Japan and there are many professional persons my field. I always get a good support and advice from my advisor and my laboratory members. They always fulfill another view of point and various ideas to me, not only in the academic terms but also the personal life. Moreover, I have learned how to work in Japanese styles which can be adapted to my working style as well Work Hard and Drink Hard. Except studying, I have a chance to learn the other aspects of Japan by travelling. Each place is its own cultural and traditional characteristics as well as own original food. The local people, also, are kind to help the foreigner like me. Even though they could not clearly understand my Japanese language, they try to help me as much as they can so awesome!!! Another experience which cannot definitely happen in Thailand is Snow and Ski. I learned how to ski from the basic until now I love to ski. I will keep in my mind every minute in Japan be full of valuable experiences and unforgettable memory. I would like to give a special thank to Japanese Government to provide me this scholarship for studying in Japan as well as my advisor to welcome me to his laboratory. I am sure that all knowledge and experiences from Japan will make me more strong and professional in the future. Supannika Potithep 16
