The Bulletin of the Institute of Human Sciences, Toyo University, No. 7 Study on the concerns of mothers with young children in Chiba prefecture in relation to child-rearing: Focusing on possible differences among children s ages and mothers birth experience KARATA Noriko MORITA Akemi 612 mothers with young children was taken from the data collected in forming of the Support Plan for the Development of the Next Generation in Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture. The respondents were subjected to reanalysis in terms of their problems and concerns, focusing on possible differences among the children s ages and the mothers birth experience, with a view to finding out their needs for child-rearing support appropriate to the parents circumstances. The findings are: (a) Not being able to have time for myself was a concern shared by mothers with young children, regardless of the children s ages. (b) Mothers with children below the age of three tend to have concerns about the establishment of their children s lifestyle habits. (c) Mothers with children who were three years old or older tended to have concerns about the relationship with their children. (d) Mothers who have born children for the first time tended to have concerns about toilet training.
