Sharing of Care in Society. The characteristics and the limits of care in the families of people with disabilities NAKANE Naruhisa : Advancement of the aging society and a transformation of family environments have raised risks for those who care and those who are in care. Now, to lighten these risks, sharing (socializing) of care is the projected task of Japanese society. However, many parents of children with disabilities are uneasy about the idea of care sharing in society. Hence, this paper argues that sharing of care in society is not a mere shift of caretakers from the family to the society. The parents motivation to care is diversely-based, so that care is not a unilateral action but a bilateral interaction that holds hopes and expectations. Yet, viewing the parents inclination to care only from standpoints such as love and family norms can cover up the original risks of the caring relationship. These risks are analyzed in this paper from two viewpoints, an intrusion into others and limits in time. To actualize social sharing of care requires consideration for the characteristics of caring relationship and a mechanism to lessen the risks. : the families of people with disabilities, intimacy, caring, sharing of care in society Graduate Student, Graduate School of Sociology, Ritsumeikan University
