37 35 Abstract On Study on an Acceptance Process of Sexual Orientation in Japanese Gay Men Chibun Tsuno The purpose of this paper is to clarify an acceptance process of sexual orientation in Japanese gay men and to hypothesize theoretically about it. These days of the information society, today even more than in the past, LGBT people seem to be living in a more comfortable environment. It is said, however, that almost all of Japanese gay men have been undergoing and are undergoing heterosexual role conflict and depression. An original questionnaire to survey was prepared, and 12 subjects participated in this study. s were used in order to exchange data between each subject and the author, and SCAT was utilized for analyzing all the collected data qualitatively. As a result of analyzing them with SCAT, it turned out that most Japanese gay men would go through six stages in accepting their own sexual orientation. But, supposedly, most of them might stay at the fifth stage, namely the stage of coming out selectively. 47
