SUMMER EVENTS Treasures from the Sogetsu Art Collection A Half-god and Half-beast by Sofu Teshigahara 50 The Sogetsu School of Ikebana was founded by Sofu Teshigahara, a creative genius who was called the Picasso of flowers by Time magazine. Beyond ikebana, his devotion to art extended to painting, sculpture and calligraphy. Initiated through the discerning eyes of Sofu, the Sogetsu Art Collection has been built upon by successive Sogetsu Iemoto. This exhibition displays approximately 50 items from the Collection, including creations by three generations of Sogetsu Iemoto. Profile: 1977 2002 1,012 Born in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, 1977. Uchiumi completed postgraduate studies in the Art Research Department, Tama Art University in 2002.
