3 Comparative Studies on Regional Development Processes, Using a Region-Related Content as a Key Element 立命館大学大学院先端総合学術研究科博士課程福田一史 FUKUDA, Kazufumi 立命館大学映像学部中村彰憲 NAKAMURA, Akinori 立命館大学映像学部細井浩一 HOSOI, Koichi 6 Abstract In this paper, six cases of regional development endeavors which regard regional entertainment as a trigger of the development (henceforth called Contents-Centric Regional Development Process) are analyzed. The subjected cases, namely the activities took place in Miyagi and Ishikawa Prefectures and Hikone, Kyoto as well as Takeo Cities are categorized, using endogenous-exogenous dynamics, in terms of development process as well as the characteristics of seed entertainment. Results of the comparative case studies seem to imply that in order to implement effective regional development activities, both core entertainment elements around which efforts are made, and main actors of the projects need to be endogenous in nature. Simultaneously, it is observed that in many cases, exogenous entertainment elements or the people outside of in-group may trigger substantial development endeavors; and thus the importance of exogenous factors in managing the regional development endeavors are confirmed, leading to raise further inquiry for the future research, which is to verify capability of managing exogenous factors in effective operations of Contents Centric Regional Development Process.
