16 70 51 P.ULRICH'S INTEGRATIVE ECONOMIC ETHICS TAKAYUKI NAGO The purpose of this paper is to offer a new approach to economic ethics that aims at a comprehensive reconsideration of the normative foundation of the market itself. To reduce the legitimation of the market to nothing but economic criteria like efficiency means to fall into economism. Peter Ulrich clarifies two normative dimensions for a life-conducive market. The first dimension is the meaning of economic activities with regard to the good life of the actors themselves. The second dimension is the legitimacy of the rules of an economy with regard to the just coexistence of all citizens in a wellordered society. Therefore it is important to design and to arrange the normative framework of the market in order to secure market forces that serve the good life and the just coexistence of people. This is a vital policy that is proposed by Ulrich.
