Vol.19, 125-138 The Relationships between Emotion Regulation of Youth and Their Parental Images Based on Childhood Memories Osaka Gakuin University SOGON, Shunya Mukogawa Women's University NUMATA, Hiroshi The relationships of university studentsemotion regulation tendencies and their parent-child relationships during elementary school age were investigated. Participants were students selected from three different universities. Due to the reliability score of MAS, 79 subjects were excluded from the data analyses. Child-parent relationships were evaluated by the semantic differential method, using 12 adjective pairs. The male students having a negative evaluation towards their fathers reported that they have less emotion regulation and tolerance. They also have negative memories of their mothers. In contrast, the male students having positive memories of their fathers reported that they have good tolerance in their emotion regulation. The female students reported that their memories of childhood towards their parents had less effect on their emotion regulation.
