14 Profile: Born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts (M.A.). Since visiting Vietnam in 1994, Toba has produced art works depicting disappearing scenes of Vietnam. In 2005, an exhibition of her work was held at the Royal Palace in Hue. In 2010, special exhibitions were held at Yakushiji Temple in Nara and at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi to commemorate Heijo-Nara s 1300th and Hanoi s 1000th anniversaries. In 2005, Toba was awarded the Cultural Testimonial Award by the Vietnamese Government. In 2012, she received the Foreign Minister s Award. Currently, Professor of Arts at Kyoto Seika University.
