2 BEFORE YOU BEGIN Read through the manual before you begin, so you will have an overall idea of what to do. Check all parts. If you find any defective or missing parts, contact your local dealer or our Kyosho Distributor. First-time fliers should seek advice for hints in pre-flight adjustments and assembly from experienced fliers. Be reminded that flying a badly assembled or badly adjusted aircraft is very dangerous! In the beginning, first-time fliers should always be assisted by an experienced flier and never fly alone! Glue joints can loosen even thoogh they appear to be tight. If you notice irregular flight, investigate the cause and repair it befor the next flight. REQUIRED FOR OPERATION 3 AA-size Batteries 3 x 5 A Channel radio with 5 mini servos is required. CAUTION: Only use a minimum channel transmitter, configured for aircraft! (No other radio may be used!) Minimum -channel radio. 12 Do not overlook this symbol! *This plane is not designed or manufactured for high speed flight. *DO NOT fly on a horizontal straight line at full throttle as sudden brake up during flight is possible. *Full throttle should only be used for climbing vertically, loops and rolls or in the case of an emergency where power is needed. *When airplane is facing down, release the throttle to idle straight away. *For normal flight operate at half throttle (throttle control stick halfway etween full throttle and idle) *Only people with competent and experienced throttle control should operate this airplane. *This aircraft is for intermediate to advanced builders and flyers only. Beginners cannot fly and build this aircraft. *This aircraft has been flight tested with snap-rolls and other aerobatic maneuvers. However, repeated violent maneuvers may overstress the airframe. Please fly in a way that will not otherstress the airframe. *Repeated flyng can cause stress cracks to appear in the wood and joints, please inspect after each flight. If any abnormalities are noted, repair immediately befor the next flight to avoid accsidents. *Glue joints can loosen even thoogh they appear to be tight. If you notice irregular flight, investigate the cause and repair it befor the next flight. *Even though the kit's supplied with fitted linkages, inprpely assembling then can result in binding or loose control surfaces. This can cause flutter and aircraft control problems. Make suer all linkages are tight and control surfases move properly before flying. *This aircraft is designed for stroke.5 sized engines only. Using larger, more powerful engens is not safe and may result in airframe failure.do not exceed the recommended engine size or engage in extreme aerobatic maneuvers. 13 FLIGHT MANUAL Always do observe the following in order to prevent accidents! Before Flying Flying After Flying Cautions for Safety Before enjoying flying your airplane, sufficiently make sure the airfield is spacious. Always fly it outside rooms in safe areas with no debris or obstacles! Do not fly your airplane on days with strong winds or side winds. Always land your airplane into the wind. Always regulate the engine from behind, but never from infront or from the sides, because a rotating propeller might badly injure you. For radio equipment, refer to the manual included with the radio. Check that the spinner and the propeller are securely fastened. If the model begins to operate by itself, there is another transmitter on your frequency. Do not try to operate your model under such condition for it may go out of control. Fully extend transmitter antenna. Switch on the transmitter. ON OFF ON Switch on the receiver. ON Fill in the fuel. Move the sticks on your transmitter to ensure that all controls move according to your inputs and the way you adjusted them. By moving the throttle control, check that the engine carburetor easily opens and closes. For starting the engine, apply low throttle and hold the engine starter against the spinner. Adjust the needle. Bring your airplane to a halt by lowering the engine control trim. After each flight, the engine is hot. Beware of getting burned. Switch off the receiver. Switch off the transmitter. OFF OFF ON OFF Draw the remaining fuel out of the tank and fill it back into the can. Do not allow watching people to get too close to a rotating propeller. Immediately disuse defective propellers as well as deformed spinners. If the batteries of the radio system are flat, replace them with new ones. Do not fly your airplane above people standing around. Wipe up any fuel deposits or dirt. Ensure the main wing is securely installed. Your airplane into the wind and make it take off. Never throw burning, gleaming or smouldering things into fuel cans, even if these happen to be empty. This could result in serious injury. Only use KYOSHO genuine parts. 3
