14 ICT A Review on Intervention into Emotion Recognition and Regulation for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder: Focusing on the Use of ICT Hisoka SUZUKI and Hiroshi FUJINO This study reviews the research on the intervention of emotion understanding and support on emotion regulation in individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) focusing on the use of ICT. It includes discussion of both current problems and issues expected to arise in the future. In recent years, computer-based trainings have been adapted; however, the number of study that reports the effects of intervention is small. This especially concerns support methods using the computer-based Virtual Environment (VE) software, which are expected to be generalized to daily life. However, there is little evidence regarding the effects of the VE-based intervention studies for ASD. Therefore, the development of VE-based intervention programs and verification of effects are required. The current need for reasonable accommodation changed the point of view for intervention from training to support, including the use of assistive tools in daily life.
