123 A Consideration of a Prevention Factor Concerning the Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy of Undergraduates: A Focus on Identity Abstract The purpose of this paper is to consider a prevention factor of career decision-making self-efficacy of undergraduates. In recent years, a problem of career indecision of undergraduates has increased, and is currently drawing attention. This significance gives reason to consider the factors affecting the undergraduate career choice. This analysis involves two steps. First, we review studies of career decision-making self-efficacy. Second, we consider the prevention factors with a focus on identity, and the studies of Erikson, Hershenson, Super, Schein, and Marcia are introduced. As a result, we conclude that the prevention factor is identity confusion resulting from inferiority on school age leading to the prevention of rising self-efficacy. Keywords: career indecision of undergraduates, career decision-making self-efficacy, adolescence, identity vs. identity confusion, school age, industry vs.
