2 R REQUIRED FOR OPERATION () Minimum channel radio with servos, and battery box. Battery Box If already included with the CAUTION: Only use a surface radio with channels and servos! radio, no battery box needs to be pur-chased separately. Stick-type AA-size Batteries ch radio. AA AA AA Because there are stick-type and wheel-type transmitters, use which ever fits your convenience best. Switch the reverse (transmitter) for the steer-ing and throttle control. For more information on the radio, refer to its instruction manual. Wheel-type ch radio. Suitable servos & receiver Servo Receiver Required for engine starting: Glow Fuel & Fuel Pump Booster Cord Plug Wrench Engines for R/C models require glow fuel. Be careful not to purchase gasoline or kerosene by mistake; both cannot be used! Also, be very careful when han-- dling glow fuel which is hi-ghly inflamma-- ble and high-explosive! Besides glow fuel, engines also require engine starting equipment. This comprises a glow plug heater (booster cord & batteries) and a plug wrench for removing and installing the glow plug. Drills neat mm to 5mm holes directly! For trimming bodies! Cutting along curved lines never was so easy! RADIO PREPARATION 3 Set up the radio control system as indicated below. 8 ON 0 OFF ON OFF Transmitter Insert AA-size dry batteries. (Transmitter) Extend the antenna. (Transmitter) 3 Insert AA-size dry batteries. (Battery Box) Connect the battery box. 5 Extend the antenna. (Receiver) 6 Center the trims. 7 Switch on the transmitter. 8 Switch on the receiver. 9 Make sure the servos move according to your transmitter inputs. Servo START FINISH Switch off the receiver. 4 BEFORE YOU BEGIN () Read through the manual before you begin, so you will have an overall idea of what to do. Check all parts. 5 BEFORE YOU BEGIN () 5 This kit contains screws and hardware in different metric sizes and shapes. Before using them, check the screws on the true-to-scale diagrams on the left side in each assembly step. Some screws are extras. 7 3 Gear Differential EXPLODED VIEW No < > 55 < Ball Diff unit > Thrust Plate 55 /6 50 x 8mm Thrust Ball Ball Bearing 8 5 Thrust Washer 38 3/3 Ball Bearing Assemble with the aid of the above exploded view and pay Secure parts attention to the following. 3 and 35 in place with two flat head screwdrivers and rotate the differential case until it becomes tight. Then, tighten screw 39. When running the car, the differential must be tight, otherwise it may be damaged. Remove oil deposits from before applying a small amount of ball differential grease to the spots marked with Ball Differential Grease After applying Grease, place eight differential balls 55 between the two thrust washers 39 5, grouping them around the screw Now, hold the differential case firmly and rotate part 35. If part 36 rotates into the opposite direction to part 35, no further adjustment is necessary. If part 36 does not rotate, screw 39 is too tight. In this case, gradually loosen screw 39 until part 36 rotates Place the differential balls into 38 and apply ball differential grease Tighten 3 with a screwdriver and fully tighten 39 then rewind /8 turn. (Adjust it later) 36 Once the adjustment is done, install (see"exploded view"). MAINTENANCE As soon as the ball differential's smooth action becomes rough, parts 37, 38, 5 and 55 may have become "gritty". If this happens, disassemble the unit and clean these parts, apply more grease and reassemble. If the action is still not smooth, the parts are worn and, therefore, must be replaced. We recommend that these parts be replaced from time to time to ensure smooth running. Part bags used. Apply grease. 7

23 6 Body Shell 6mm 65 5mm Cut out a hole in the body shell just above the exhaust hole in the muffler. 6mm 7 Painting Before painting, use a neutral detergent to remove any oil residues and dirt. Mask the windows from the inside. 3 Refer to the pictures on the box for the color scheme. Paint the body shell from the inside using KyoshoÕs spray colors. 25 Safety Precautions Always run your car with the body shell mounted! Do not run your car on ground: that is overgrown with grass. that is muddy, sandy or rocky. Check all screws, nuts etc. on a regular basis for looseness. OPERATING YOUR MODEL SAFELY CAUTION: Do NOT operate the model in the following places and situations: (Non-observance may lead to accidents!) Always check the dry batteries in the radio! When the dry batteries get weaker, transmission and reception of the radio decrease. You may lose control of your model when operating it under such condition. This may lead to accidents! Operate the model in spacious areas with no people around! Do NOT operate it:. on roads!. in places where children and many people gather! 3. in residential districts and parks!. indoors and in limited space! * Non-observance may account for personal injury and property damage! Keep in mind that people around you may also operate a radio control model! NEVER share the same frequency with somebody else at the same time!
