3 II. GRAMMAR REVIEW: Topic: Adverbs of Manner (5-6 minutes) ( 様態の副詞 ) Adverbs of manner modify verbs or adjectives and answer the question how. ( 様態の副詞は動詞もしくは形容詞を修飾し how どのようにという質問に答えます ) Most are usually formed by adding ly to the adjectives. ( ほとんどは形容詞に ly を付け加えた形となります ) Some words ending in ly cannot form the adverbs because they are used as adjectives (e.g. friendly, lonely, lively, cowardly and manly). (ly で終わる単語は形容詞として使用されるため副詞の形になりません例 : friendly, lonely, lively, cowardly and manly) Some adverbs of manner have the same form as the adjective (e.g. fast, hard, and late). ( 様態の副詞のいくつかは形容詞と同じ形です例 :fast, hard, late) Remember: Do not use adverbs after the linking verbs, use adjectives instead. For instance, we do not say She is beautifully. We say She is beautiful.
